Sadaqah Jariyah for Uganda: Build Masjid, Water Wells & Help Restore Eyesight

80% of Palestinian, Yemeni and Refugee Families Will Go To Bed Hungry Today

A desperate plea from our brothers & sisters in Uganda

Imagine a life where hunger is a constant companion, clean water is a distant dream, and the promise of education is a fragile hope.

This is the reality for countless families in Uganda, one of the world's poorest nations. In the heart of some of Uganda’s most impoverished villages of Uganda, hundreds of Muslim families are suffering.

And they desperately need your help.

Families in the poorest villages in Uganda live in basic mud huts without access to clean water and food security.

Unsafe water threatens lives

Many of these impoverished villages don’t have access to clean water that is safe for drinking.

For many villages, the only water source is stagnant ponds or small streams shared with wildlife. The villagers have to walk miles to get there and then fill containers to bring back to the village.

But the distance is not the real problem. The real problem is contamination.

Just imagine if you had to drink from this:

The only water source is unclean and a breeding ground for diseases.

These water sources often water holes for livestock, downhill from latrines, and catchments for mudslide debris.

Such water conditions create a perfect breeding ground for harmful bacteria and parasites, leaving families and children at risk of contracting waterborne diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, typhoid, dysentery, and hepatitis A.

The consequences are dire.

  • Diarrhea kills 33 children every day in Uganda. (Source: UNICEF)
  • 43% of deaths caused by waterborne diseases occur in children under five years old.
  • Over 25% of students drop out of school because of water-related illnesses.
  • Over 70% of diseases stem directly from a lack of clean water.

Empty bellies, broken dreams

In addition to the lack of access to clean water, the people in these poor villages of Uganda face another dire situation: food is scarce. Frequent droughts and floods exacerbate the issue, increasing their risk of food insecurity.

According to the World Food Programme:

  • 20.3% of Ugandans (over 9 million people) live below the poverty line and face food insecurity.

  • Almost 12 million Ugandan children under 5 years old are stunted—an irreversible condition—due to malnutrition.

Many children are forced to drop out of school because of food insecurity.

It is common for Ugandans in these impoverished villages to survive on just one meal a day or merely on water for days. Children are forced to forage in the bushes for wild fruits to sustain themselves—leaving little time for education.

As a result, many children drop out of school, unable to fulfill their potential or achieve their dreams, leaving them trapped in a cycle of poverty and illiteracy.

They also lack permanent Masjid and access to Islamic education

Uganda is home to approximately 16 million Muslims. The Eastern regions of Uganda, which have a significant Muslim population, are severely affected by poverty.

One of the effects of poverty is the lack of permanent Masjid. Some villagers have built makeshift Masjid made of mud, wattle, and shabby tarpaulin mats, but these structures can be unstable or lack critical infrastructure.

Invest in their future. Invest in your akhirah.

Al Amal is on a mission to uplift the lives of vulnerable Muslims in the most impoverished villages of Uganda. Al Amal’s program in Uganda is based on four pillars:

  • Provision of Essential Resources: Construct Masjid and drill wells to provide places of worship and clean water.

  • Improvement of Food Security: Distribute meals and food baskets regularly to ensure families have adequate nutrition.

  • Promotion of Sustainable Development: Provide employment and training opportunities for local residents to contribute to the economic development of the community.

  • Capacity Building: Organize workshops and training programs to empower families to acquire new skills and improve their living conditions.

Today, Al Amal is reaching out to you to help them build Masjid, drill wells, and distribute food in the most needy villages of Uganda.

Fulfilling the basic foundation of Masjid, clean water, and food security must be achieved before we embark on sustainable development and capacity building to uplift their lives.

Invest in their future. Invest in your Akhirah.

Today, you have a blessed opportunity to help uplift the lives of Ugandans in three powerful ways.

Akhirah investment opportunity #1: Building a Masjid as Sadaqah Jariyah

Imagine being rewarded for every single prayer, zikr, and act of worship in a Masjid. And imagine gaining these rewards as long as the Masjid benefits the community from generation to generation!

‘Uthman reported our Messenger ﷺ as saying:

“If anyone builds a Masjid for Allah, Allah will build a house for him in Jannah.”

(Bukhari and Muslim.)

Your generous donation to build a Masjid will provide a community of 150 people with a permanent and comfortable Masjid equipped with all the necessary infrastructure.

Akhirah investment opportunity #2: Building a Water Well as Sadaqah Jariyah

Every drop of water that nourishes a person, every disease you help prevent, and every life you save just because your donation helps us to drill a well in villages suffering from water shortages.

It is narrated by Sa’d ibn Ubadah that Sa’d asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ:

Sa'd asked: Messenger of Allah, Umm Sa'd has died; what form of sadaqah is best? He replied: Water (is best). He dug a well and said: It is for Umm Sa'd.

(Sunan Abi Dawud.)

When you donate to Al Amal to build a water well in your name, you’ll provide 120 families (850 people) in a Ugandan village with access to clean and safe drinking water.

Akhirah investment opportunity #3: Providing Food to Save a Life & Help a Child Get Education

Donating food is also one of the best forms of charity. Suhayb ibn Sinan reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“The best of you are those who feed others.”

(Musnad Aḥmad 23926.)

When you support Al Amal’s food basket distribution program, you’ll help feed a family of 8 persons for 1 month! Every basket also includes soap to maintain good hygiene and sanitation.

Every food basket contains:

  • Rice (15kg)
  • Flour (15kg)
  • Cooking oil (1L)
  • Lentils (10kg)
  • Sugar (5kg)
  • Soap (2 bars)

By providing a family with food security, you’re also helping to keep their children in school.

These are three amazing opportunities to gain the rewards of transforming lives in Uganda while earning Sadaqah Jariyah! Don’t miss out on this invitation to invest in the future of Uganda, and invest in your Akhirah (afterlife).

Jazakamulah khayran.
