Can you imagine what it feels like to be someone in Gaza right now?

Imagine a hungry child asks for food, but all they get from their parents is boiled grass. It’s a sad picture that shows how hard life is in a place filled with fighting and tough times.

Imagine being in the midst of constant attacks, never knowing if you’ll survive to see the light of another day. Imagine being displaced, losing loved ones, and lacking access to basic necessities like food and water. Picture watching your children waste away from hunger before your very eyes. The damage isn’t just physical; it’s psychological too. More than 34,000 people have been killed and more than 76,000 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7.

Gaza is facing one of the most SEVERE hunger crises the world has ever seen.

OVER HALF A MILLION LIVES HANG IN THE BALANCE

🔶 1.1million Gazans are facing drastic food insecurity

🔶 More than 70% of Gaza’s 2.3 million population is facing catastrophic hunger, heading towards imminent famine.

🔶 Around 1 out of 3 children are acutely malnourished. Those who survived the attacks are now dying from starvation.

The situation is so dire that individuals have turned to consuming animal fodder and scavenging out of sheer desperation.

WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?

“And they give food despite the love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, saying, ‘We feed you only for the face of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude.’” – Quran, Al-Insan (76:8-9)

While we might not have the ability to halt the conflict directly, we can provide crucial empowerment and support to the innocent individuals trapped amidst its chaos.

The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him) said: “The Muslim is the brother of his fellow Muslim; he does not wrong him or let him down. The one who meets the needs of his brother, Allah will meet his needs. Whoever relieves a Muslim of distress, Allah will relieve him of distress on the Day of Resurrection.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (2442) and Muslim (2580).

The promise of Allah is truly extraordinary. When we reach out to aid those facing adversity in Palestine, easing their distress, Allah would relieve us of our distress and shower us with His Mercy on the day of judgment. Imagine on the Day of Judgment, Allah SWT asking you what you have done for His believers who have been suffering and eating grass while you were living a luxurious life.

Tales From Hungry Little Hearts

Hunger is challenging enough for adults, now think about what these little ones endure. Innocent and full of dreams, they have had their childhoods stolen by the unimaginable horrors they witness each day.

Apart from the psychological trauma, children in Gaza are not receiving any food or nutrition which is causing illnesses to develop amongst those who are healthy. They are becoming SEVERELY malnourished and dehydrated after not having a full meal in days!

As the hunger grows many of them are becoming EXTREMELY emaciated lying in hospital beds, reduced to skin and bones. If we don’t help them now, they will bear the lasting effects of starvation as they grow older!!

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The believers in their mutual mercy, love, and compassion are like a single body, when one limb is in pain the rest of the body joins in insomnia, fever, and restlessness” (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 6011)

We cannot see our children hungry. How can we ignore the hunger of the children of Palestine knowing what they are going through?

Al Noman’s Commitment To Change At the heart of this crisis, we at Al Noman Charity bear witness to their suffering, and with unwavering determination, we aim to change their narrative. We are working in Deir Albalah, Nuseirat , khan Younis as well as Northern Gaza. We have local partnerships with the Palestinian Orphans Home Association. We have set up hot meal kitchens and our teams are working tirelessly on the ground, cooking & serving hot, nutritious meals to the desperate ones. In every plate filled with nourishment, there’s a promise – a promise of hope, love, and a better tomorrow. ⁠Al Noman Charity has been working in Palestine since 2021.

How Can You Help Meet Their Most Basic Needs?
